June 19, 2011: hand rotation... the first and last movement in the punch--any punch--is the hand rotation. The rotation of the hand comes from the FOREARM not the elbow., which means you have to have the muscles built in your forearms to make that rotation happen, and happen speedily.
ReplyDeleteAn exercise for building those muscles.
1. Stand with arm nearly completely extended, but with shoulders down.
2. Rotate the wrist ONLY, not moving the elbow. You should be able to hold the elbow with the other hand with the elbow pointing down and just rotate the hand.
Repeat.
